You are my waking thought, my song and my words
You are my love, my life, my light.
My unconditional lover.
As I prepare my altar for You today, my heart swells with anticipation,
With each candle I light, with each puff of perfume, I am more prepared
To sit and stare, to listen and hear what words you will speak,
and see the things you will show me
as the flames flicker and the fragrance filters through
Just the thought of Your presence leaves me intoxicated, excited, my pulse races…
I am in love with my God.
I put my head in your lap and You count my hairs, numbering each and every one,
“Number ten thousand and one” and You are not done…
I look at Your hand and I see the beautiful carving of my name, deeply engraved
I gaze into Your darling eyes as they blaze, with love for me.
I look to my altar and the flames look so dim compared to Him
His fragrance leaves me heady and my body, weak but willing
my lungs are full to capacity with the indescribable scent.
Woody? floral? oriental? sweet?
No, it is sensual, dripping with warmth, and oh so inviting!
My lover has brought me His perfume….
I am in love with my God.
Minutes past 4 and I am undone, teardrops slowly roll down my cheeks
I am thinking upon His mercy, about His grace…
I know I am not worthy, that truth I face.
And yet He loves me. I cannot fathom why
I wouldn’t choose me in a million,
but He loved me enough to die.
Loved me enough to yank me out of every dark habit and habitation
Loved me enough to show me He died for each reason I cry
Loved me enough hold my hand and guide me
Loved me enough to forgive my sinful, shameful, selfish self
I am His beloved. Chosen, crowned, and then set apart.
I am in love with my God
I invite you to fall in love with my Lover,
This One only will I share,
and like me, you too can come, sit and stare.
Fall in love with His son, with the Jesus who has won
Who’s red blood it is that washes you white
and leaves you cleaner than the night
as you step into the light.
Fall into the arms of His Spirit and let His love explode in you
Let that love change the way you see creation
Each fearfully and wonderfully made nation
Of which He has given us dominion
As we stand with Him in union.
I am in love with my God
